A {Possible} Rainy Virtual Coffee

Happy Tuesday!

If we were really meeting for coffee today, I'd probably just have water because I had two coffees yesterday and was a maniac from all the caffeine. I know it sounds weird that two coffees would throw me over the edge, but I haven't had much caffeine in the past five years, so there's my excuse.
One of the two coffees I had yesterday. This one was from the Blue Bird Diner in Iowa City. They have GREAT breakfast!
I'd also tell you that I'm craving a rainy day. We haven't had rain in over three weeks. The ground is cracked and hard, and all the grass is brown and getting browner each day. E even said it felt prickly when he walked on it. At least B2 doesn't need to mow anymore.

Plus, I'm just in need of a gloomy day. The kind where you can hang out in PJ's and eat tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. The kind of day where you don't feel guilty because the sun is shining and all you want to do is hide in the basement and watch a "Millionaire Matchmaker" marathon. You know one of those days.

And I know more and more of those days will be here soon enough, but I want one now. Just to break up the monotony.

Ironically, today might be the day I get my wish. And I have to be at work. I did have tomato soup and grilled cheese, so that's good. But...and this is the big but...it's our preschool's family picnic tonight at the park, which has a splash pad. E has been looking forward to it for weeks and now it might be rained out. Ugh...seriously?

If we were really having coffee today I'd tell you that B2 and I had an afternoon movie date yesterday. We went to "Rise of the Planet of the Apes", and it was good. But then again B2 and I are suckers for those types of movies. I've seen only bits and pieces of the original, so I might need to rent it and watch the whole thing. Have you seen the original? Or the new one?

Our weekends won't be for movies for a while, since football season is kicking off this Saturday. I can't wait. Even though the first game is always SUPER hot, and kind of boring. I've already started wearing my black and gold! Are you into college football? or NFL? or none at all?

I'll close our coffee talk with a shout out to my team -

GO HAWKS!

And wish you a GREAT week!

Don't forget to head over to Amy's for more coffee talk.

it's rained ALL day here in DSM, so hopefully you can grab some of the drops! my husband is so ready for the hawkeye season -- he is already packing his tailgate tote LOL. i hope to make it to one game, but we struggle to find childcare. that cafe looks fun, and now i'm hungry for grilled cheese! have a good week!

Oh my goodness - those toes!!!! My childhood favorite was Campbell's (had to be that brand) tomato soup with saltines broken over the top and left to sit and get soggy. Grilled cheese, for me, stands on it's own and it's a four season kind of thing. And frequently pinch hits for lunch AND supper. I do not have football envy and I will shamefully admit I am trying to talk my son out of signing up for hockey this year which means 4 times a week at all wacky times of the day and evening and a schedule that changes daily. Help! I need help convincing him he really doesn't want to play. Now how awful a confession is that?!

I love your toes! Black and gold, right? What a fan! :)

And I know exactly how it feels to crave those rainy days. I hope you get yours soon, but NOT when it's going to interfere with a splash pad. That's just too much!

Have fun at the picnic!

I wish that i could give you some of the rain we received from Hurricane Irene over the weekend!! We got plenty!! And the night before she hit, I made grilled cheese (and then some extras just in case-- which was good b/c we did lose power and its still off). Such a comfort food! Glad you had a date night with B2. I remember watching the Planet of the Apes movies (and TV series, too?) as a kid back in the 70s. Haven't seen the new release. Your pedi looks awesome!! How do they do that?? Our high school team colors were black and gold. Hope you got just the right amount of rain that you wanted/needed! Have a great week and enjoy the football kickoff weekend!

Oh man, you've totally given me a serious craving for creamy tomato basil soup and a grilled cheese sandwich. WHY OH WHY did I not bring my food processor with me to Thailand?! {grump face}

Love the toes! We have no football here, but lots of soccer, though I'm not hugely into sports... waiting for the kids to get older to get into it (or something). And tomato soup! Now I know what to do with the rest of those tomatoes in my yard!
